CHILD LABOUR AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
CHILD
LABOUR
Child Labour refers to the
exploitation of children though any form of work that deprives children their
right to be educated or to attend regular school. It is also the unfair treatment
of a child which is mentally, physically and morally harmful.
Some of the negative
effects of Child Labour include premature ageing, depression, malnutrition, and
drug dependency.
Child Labour also have some
causes which includes:
·
Poverty
and Unemployment:
These children are forced
to work at young age due to many family factors such as unemployment, poverty
and lack of parental education. This is the major cause of Child Labour in our
society.
·
Illiteracy:
Illiterate parents do not
realize the need for proper development and education of a child as they are
uneducated, they do not realize the importance of education therefore they use
their children for money.
·
Over
Population:
When a particular society
is over populated there comes a situation whereby children are employed in
various forms of work to earn money to assist in feeding.
Note:
Any activity that are harmful to the physical and mental health of the children
and that hinder their proper development is known as Child Labour.
WOMEN TRAFFICKING
Women’s Trafficking is an
international activities in which fraud are used to transport women across
borders for economic gain such as Slavery.
Some of the causes of
women’s trafficking are: poverty, unemployment, greed, illiteracy e.t.c.
Some of the consequences of
this woman trafficking include the following;
·
Forced
Prostitution:
This is a crime against a
person because of the violation of the victim’s rights of movement through
coercion and because of their commercial exploitation. It is a situation
whereby a woman who has been trafficked is forced to sexual slavery or
prostitution.
·
Removal
of Organs:
This is the use of fraud,
threat, abduction e.t.c. to take away an organ in a human being. When some
ladies are trafficked they end up being forced to remove an organ which could
risk her life.
·
Slavery:
This is the trade of women
for the purpose of slavery or forced labour though some could be doing domestic
works.
To
stop Child Labour and Women Trafficking the government could help in the
following ways:
·
Building schools for both the old and young
with good facilities and teachers.
·
The government should raise public awareness
especially in urban areas.
·
The government should reinforce penalty for
those who engage in Child Labour and Women Trafficking.
·
The government should help the poor by
giving them loan and the disable should be able to learn some arts. This way
Child Labour and Women Trafficking would learn lesson.
OBSERVATIONS
Since Child Labour and
Women Trafficking are both caused by poverty and illiteracy I believe that if
the government after building and establishing schools they should then make a
policy against the seeing of children in the market during school periods this
will lessen and make every child attend school and gain knowledge.
